Zero3 Clay

Have you Heard of Zero3 clay bodies? They are low fire clay bodies that mature at low fire temperatures. A lot of us who have worked at low temperature enjoy the range of colors and the reduced amount of energy needed to mature work but noticed that most commercial offerings of clays rated for 04-06 have 15% porosity! This is why we have often taken low fire red earthenware to cone 6 in the kiln with minimal issues, because it truly matured around cone 4-5. This clay, developed by Tony Hansen, will slump and melt into a puddle at higher temperatures, its the real deal.

The website digitalfire.com has done all of the work for us and defines these clays as cone 03 fritware bodies.

Here are links in case you are interested in learning more about these amazing clay bodies, we just made one today based on the porcelain recipe and will keep you posted via instagram (ZerimarClay) and here to let you know how its going.
